The Mississauga Food Bank's (TMFB) vision is a Mississauga where no one goes hungry. We have been relieving hunger by providing and promoting access to healthy food since 1986.

Job Purpose

  • Lead the annual process to develop products for strategic funding opportunities that connect with donors, measure community impact, and are supported by effective grant management systems.
  • Improve communication and develop common understanding across internal departments and external partners
  • Grow revenue from the foundation, government, and institutional funders through effective relationship building, competitive proposals, and bestinclass stewardship. Increase supporter confidence that funds are spent well and inform funders and other stakeholders of program progress
  • Support effective, cohesive fundraising across the organization by partnering with other development team members to craft template and custom proposals and reports for significant funding opportunities.
What You'll Do Strategic Funding Product Development (10%)

  • Support the preparation of budgets and cases to support TMFB's strategic needs, programs, and initiatives in partnership with the Director of Programs & Operations, program coordinators, and the Director of Development
  • Enhance this process to include issue identification, strategy and product development, identifying key learning questions, supporting design and selection and implementation of outcome/output measurements, identifying donor engagement opportunities, and planning for internal and external reporting
Foundation, Government, and Institutional Fundraising (50%)

  • Identify funding opportunities among government, institutional (United Way, Trillium, Food Banks Canada, Feed Ontario, etc.), and foundation prospects and donors that are aligned with TMFB's strategic needs. Actively work to establish longterm partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with prospects
  • Develop and submit highly competitive proposals that leverage their goals and preferences in conjunction with TMFB goals with a focus on exceeding revenue targets
  • Provide bestinclass stewardship to assigned donor portfolios. Manage grant fulfillment and reporting and submit funder reports that integrate program updates on outcomes achieved best practices, and lessons learned. Ensure reporting requirements are met by maintaining records of activities.
  • Partner with the Finance Manager to ensure funds are recorded and spent as per grant agreements and with the Programs & Operations team to gather and retrieve information for outcome measurement
  • Represent TMFB in any programs, meetings, or events hosted by institutional funders for grantees
Proposal and Report Creation (30%)

  • Craft proposals and reports for other Development portfolios (corporate and community partnerships, major donors, etc.), partnering with the marketing team to ensure brand alignment
  • Contribute to organizational reports (ie. Face of Hunger, Impact reports) by providing summary project/program reports and key learnings
Administration/Other (10%)

  • Maintain records in the donor database (Raiser's Edge) related to your portfolio. Enter contact reports and ensure the next steps are scheduled. Update the prospect tab with proposal information. Run queries/reports as needed
  • Create reports that reflect portfolio activity and progress towards achieving goals
  • Other duties as required and assigned
Experience You'll Bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience with a focus on working with institutional donors
  • College diploma, university degree, or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field
  • Proven success in grant and proposal writing, moves management and asks, assessing capacity through prospect research, and managing donor relations.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer management systems (preferably Raiser's Edge) or other movesmanagement systems
