Position Summary - Reporting to the Manager, Contract and Training Services, the Regional
- Continuing Education and Training Officer (RTO) works in conjunction with
- and tuition-based cost-recovery Continuing Education programs and
- courses, based on identified regional/community needs and opportunities,
- and delegated priorities. The RTO may also have a dual reporting
- relationship with the Regional Director, Continuing Education and Training,
- when working on project teams and/or special projects across campus
- regions. The RTO is aware of the Mission and Values of North Island
- College, incorporating and practicing the values in all aspects of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities
- 1. Working individually, or in project teams, this position is responsible for coordinating scheduled and nonscheduled Continuing Education programs and courses to meet program delivery and budget targets.
- 2. Responds to contract training requests for delegated portfolio areas, completing all the steps needed to satisfy the request.
- 3. This position may be designated to liaise with ElderCollege committees, instructors, and members to provide operational support at the various campus locations.
- 4. Liaises with other campuses and centres, and instructional areas regarding applicable Continuing Education offerings.
- 5. Consults with appropriate external agencies and organizations for the
- 6. Assists or leads in the content development and production of the
- Learner Guide and the Continuing Education and Training calendar to meet established deadlines.
- 7. Coordinates the curriculum review and development process using approved course/program development tools and processes.
- 8. Orientates instructors to the College's Mission (and the CET Departmental Mandate, strategic priorities, and policies and procedures).
- 9. Conducts course evaluation surveys for each Continuing Education course/program offering.
- 10. Sets course fees to ensure that the costs of each course, program or service are balanced against expenses and include required indirect costs.
- 11. Provides information sessions, tours, and detailed program information to market and promote offerings to potential students and community stakeholders.
- 12. Orders and monitors materials, supplies, and equipment required for course/program delivery.
- 13. Provides information related to courses and programs to Marketing staff to develop promotional materials and/or creates drafts for approval.
- 14. Responds to student and instructor needs and concerns, while ensuring that the College Policy related to Student Complaints and Codes of Conduct are understood.
- 15. Keeps informed of industry standards and regulations for vocational programs within delegated portfolio areas. Remains current in relation to continuing education/contract training trends and new developments.
- 16. Works collaboratively with the Continuing Education Support Assistant to coordinate efforts to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Department.
- 17. Monitors, records, and reports on enrollments and activities in all Continuing Education and Ministryfunded programs.
Required Education & Experience - Twoyear diploma in Education, or a related Business Administration/Management field of study; Bachelor Degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- 3 years' experience in the delivery of adult education and/or community development programming.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- 1. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and promote a variety of responsive programs to meet regional/community needs.
- 2. Experienced in promoting, marketing and coordinating Continuing Education and Contract Training offerings.
- 3. Detailed expertise and knowledge are essential with respect to Continuing Education Programs, parttime vocational courses, and training contracts.
- 4. Knowledge of current Ministry and Industry Training Authority (ITA) regulations for vocational programs is an asset.
