MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER

POSITION OVERVIEW:


Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Mechanical Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

This individual plays a pivotal role in pre-award negotiations, active project management, and post-completion transition and closure. Mechanical Project Manager will orchestrate seamless transitions, ensuring projects are successfully concluded while upholding strong client relations.

Additionally, this individual will spearhead future solutions for clients and their facilities, cementing our commitment to ongoing excellence in service delivery.

This position will primarily work in the office but will be on site as required by project needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plan and execute multiple submetering projects from start to completion, ensuring compliance with OBC, CSA regulations governing building services activities.
  • Manage subcontractors workload and performance. Ensuring they are on task and within budget. Provide regular updates to the director as needed
  • Ability to review drawings for multiple trades, flagging problems that may arise in the future
  • Review of shop drawings, requests for information, maintain prompt project correspondence
  • Adjust prices promptly as they change, ensuring approval is obtained before making any modifications
  • Monitor project budgets to ensure completion within budget constraints. Identify projects trending overbudget and coordinate with Revenue Assurance and Sales teams for necessary adjustments.
  • Inspect sites prior to commencement of the detailed design and assess existing conditions and measurements. Site visits as the project requires
  • Develop proactive relationships with the mechanical consultants, general contractors, developers and trades
  • Complete RFI and RFQ
  • Preparation of detailed design, schematic, drawings, reports
  • Provide technical analysis of drawings and/or electrical/mechanical systems to support various contractors and internal staff on installations
  • Work with the BIM and CAD department to ensure proper completion of documents
  • Periodic reviews of work under construction, review, interface with clients and contractors
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Provide consultation with clients on initial mechanical engineering designs including options for systems, space planning exercises, and general consultation
  • The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, licensed tradesman in the mechanical field (plumbing, sheet metal etc) or related field.
  • Highrise experience is required
  • Licensed member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) is not required but is considered an asset
  • 7 + years of supervisory experience on construction projects
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) preferred
  • Experience with budget management and cost control measures.
  • Familiarity with OBC, CSA regulations governing the building services activity
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects, good organizational skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively resolve construction issues, manage client expectations, review construction sites, liaise with contractors, and other contract administration requirements.
  • Experience in mechanical design is an asset
  • Mechanical design experience of process piping systems considered an asset.
  • Experience in HVAC, Gas fitting, sprinklers is an asset

TRAVEL:


  • 050 % travel may be required for this position.
