Position summary


A comprehensive program evaluation plan for the MD Program at the University of Alberta informs education practice and produces information worthy of scholarly dissemination.

Program evaluation supports the mission of the MD Program which is to develop diverse, competent and compassionate physician leaders to serve the health needs of Alberta, northern communities and Canada through adaptive innovation and social accountability.

We do this by valuing well-being, compassion, cultural safety, diverse perspectives, health equity, and growth. Effective program evaluation is crucial to achieving the mission and strategic goals of the MD Program.


In this context, and reporting to the Program Evaluation Specialist, the Program Evaluation Analyst will support the implementation, communication, and reporting of the evaluation and performance monitoring of the MD Program within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta.

This position works within the Program Evaluation Unit and collaborates with all members of the MD Program team to support the implementation, analysis, and reporting of complex, multidisciplinary program, course, and instructor evaluations.


Duties

Technical / Analytical (75%)

  • Query evaluation systems to generate ad hoc reports and data to meet the information needs of MD Program leadership and course/clerkship coordinators.
  • Gather data and generate reports to support ongoing quality improvement, accreditation initiatives, and monitoring of program effectiveness.
  • Query evaluation systems to generate data to meet the regular reporting requirements for courses and clerkships; assist with gathering data from a variety of electronic sources to support evidencebased decision making.
  • Create summary reports on performance outcomes and provide comparative data.
  • Prepare standard and adhoc reports for the Program Evaluation Unit and work with the Program Evaluation Specialist to design and develop customized reports for specific needs.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Updating the dashboards used to monitor elements of the program (e.g. observation of history / physical exam; summative assessment; etc) and briefing the Program Evaluation Specialist on these updates prior to when reporting occurs.

Administrative (25%)

  • Assist in the development of accreditation documents related to program evaluation systems.
  • Support the preparation of oral and written reports summarizing data collected from a variety of sources.
  • Answering questions from program stakeholders (students, faculty, staff) related to evaluation forms, scheduling of evaluation forms, MedSIS, etc.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Evaluation by organizing meetings, distributing meeting materials, recording minutes, etc.
  • Support best practices in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
  • Support the ongoing collection and reporting of information to demonstrate achievement of strategic goals for the MD Program.
