    Are you passionate about working with youth (ages and helping them discover their pathway towards adulthood? The Youth Housing Program is looking for Support Workers to who are committed to supporting our youth through challenges they may face.

    The Youth Support Worker focuses on building relationships with youth through a non-judgmental, harm reduction, trauma-informed, and solution-focused approach. You will play a key role in building a safe and supportive environment for the youth that promotes collaboration and innovation while ensuring the needs of the youth are met.

    What you bring to the team
  • You bring 2+ years of working with marginalized populations (youth experience is an asset).
  • You possess a diploma in Child and Youth Care (CYC), Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • You describe yourself as non-judgmental, empathetic, flexible, and able to work with initiative and independence.
  • You are able to connect and inspire trust with youth struggling with addictions, poverty, mental health, and trauma.
  • You describe yourself as someone who utilizes a harm reduction, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach.
  • You are confident utilizing different computer applications.
  • You have the ability to travel to different sites as required using a personal vehicle.

  • Build rapport, supervise and encourage youth through one-on-one supports using a non-judgmental, empathetic, and flexible approach.
  • Empower youth to actively participate in their transition plan while celebrating their successes and help to address barriers.
  • Support youth in establishing and maintaining healthy routines and life skills development.
  • Connect with youth experiencing complex barriers such as substance use, traumatic histories, mental health, homelessness, LGBTQ2S+, newcomers to Canada and/or refugees, and PSECA concerns.
  • Communicate pertinent information and progress of youth to the House Leadership Team through daily case notes, documentation, and logbook tracking.
  • Work hand in hand with youth to plan and prepare nutritious and appealing meals.
  • Create a safe, supportive, clean, and organized home environment for the youth.
  • Reinforce conflict resolution, positive communication, household respect through positive reinforcement, role modeling, and supportive listening.
  • Complete nightly reports involving: operational updates, occupancy tracking, and absence from care reporting, and Critical Incident Reports (as required).
  • Prepare documentation and feedback for program review.
  • Attend house meetings, hospital visits, and community outings with youth.
  • Maintain positive relationships with neighbors, visitors, and other community members.
  • Comply with all e4c policies, program operational policies, legislation, bylaws, licensing standards, CARF, Alberta Health.
