CONTRACT POSITION AND ONSITE IN PORT HOPE

Responsibilities:


  • The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Construction Manager.
  • Actively assist with the definition, coordination and implementation of the various engineering work packages under the scope of services described as site remediation.
  • Assist in preparing/reviewing various project documents including TSWs, SOWs, project schedules, and project budgets.
  • Participate in evaluating contractor performance against contract requirements and key performance indicators
  • Review contractor submittals (work plans, shop drawings, schedules, SOPs, reports, costs/ invoices, etc.), and ensure scope requirements are met.
  • Completes research, provides expert advice and leads the development of practical and economical solutions to specific engineering problems encountered by the project.
  • Monitor technical progress on engineering and design work activities, studies and contracts, against standards, objectives and specifications.
  • Prepares work plans and implements them.
  • Monitors deliverables for technical accuracy and adequacy, checks calculations, and assesses need for potential changes in scope, cost, schedule or quality.
  • Gains familiarity with commercial, business and administrative procedures such as change orders and contracts.
  • Researches information and provides input and to assist the Construction Manager in important technical matters and assists in the identification and scoping of project deliverables and associated cost projections.
  • Liaise with and assist members of the Port Hope Integrated Project Team in the interpretation and use of tech specs and drawings and documents to advance remediation.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by Construction Manager.
  • Build positive relations with stakeholders and monitor and comment on the performance of technical staff involved in managing engineering studies/contracts and be capable of giving presentations to customers.

Decision Making

  • Assist the Construction Manager and the project team in evaluating various options and solutions related to remediation of contaminated sites and assisting the project team in informed decision making.
  • Monitor and promote the efficient execution of the project, and where indicated and provide direction to the Project and/or Contract teams to facilitate sound decision making.

Problem Solving

  • Review the consultant's deliverables to determine whether or they meet technical (and other) standards of adequacy (e.g., engineering soundness and technical defensibility), judge whether project deliverables are of required quality, and make recommendations in response to situations of staff and/or consultants' potential failure to meet objectives.

Physical and Sensory Demands

  • The Field Coordinator will be accountable to the Construction Manager for assisting with the effective management of specific tasks created within the overall plan for the PHAI. Management of these tasks will involve effective utilization of physical and technological assets available within CNL.

Education

Skills & Experience

  • This team member must have superior verbal communication and technical writing skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with personnel of varying disciplines.
  • Have a basic understanding of the Ontario Building Code and/or have undertaken OBC related study/courses.
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures and practices, organization and quality processes.
  • Good understanding of compliance program requirements, knowledgeable of procurement practices and contract management.
  • Knowledge of project management principles (scope, schedule, time, quality, risk) and handson experience in the management of engineering activities during the various phases of a project.

Job Type:
Fixed term contract


Salary:
From $80.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Port Hope, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- soil remediation/restoration: 3 years (preferred)
- solid understanding of general construction principles: 3 years (preferred)
