Roles & Responsibilities - Project Manager

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for delivering technically challenging projects using different types of construction contracts & agreements.


Construction project manager will manage the project team and all processes related to initiation, planning, organizing, managing, monitoring, controlling, and closing of a construction project.

The project manager will act as the company ambassador who hold the core values of the corporation.


Project Manager Duties and Responsibilities Summary:
The daily duties of a project manger vary depending on the project, but the most common responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the project team.
  • Project Planning & Execution. E.g. Scope/Deliverables, Estimation, Budget, Schedules, Procurement, Quality, Forecasts.
  • Application of construction best practices.
  • Manage Project Resources.
  • Supervise the Project Team.
  • Set project objectives and goals.
  • Schedule Management.
  • Budget Control & Change Management.
  • Prepare/Finalize/Manage/Negotiate Contract Agreements.
  • Prepare/Manage specialists', consultants' & contractors' Agreements/POs including detailed SOW identification.
  • Prepare project management plans as applicable.
  • Administer all Agreements throughout.
  • Manage the Scope for Design and Construction Phases as applicable.
  • Manage communications will all stakeholders (internal & external).
  • Manage billings (Own and Subs).
  • Manage/control day to day activities during design (if applicable) and construction activities including meetings.
  • Manage LEED or green building initiatives requirements if applicable.
  • Manage Client approvals processes.
  • Manage Value Engineering as applicable.
  • Manage Permits Approval process.
  • Manage Long lead items.
  • Manage the Procurement processes.
  • Manage Quality and Client Expectations.
  • Oversee day to day site activities / methodologies in coordination with the Site superintendent.
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports including lookaheads.
  • Manage regular project meetings (progress meetings, technical meetings & commercial meetings).
  • Manage City Inspections and meeting if required.
  • Manage Risks.
  • Problem Solving & Dispute Management.
  • Manage Project Closure Phase including Permit Closure.
  • Report to and consult with, on regular basis, with the Managing Director.
  • Respect local regulations and legislations as applicable.
  • As the company ambassador, should maintain a positive image of the corporation.
  • Train Junior Staff.

Project Manager Primary Skills and Qualifications:

  • Effective leadership skills, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict management.
  • Effective communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening.
  • Initiative and proactive.
  • Excellent Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction best practices.
  • Effective planning skills.
  • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
  • Effective Timemanagement skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time.
  • Effective problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of the construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law, building codes, and H&S requirements by local authorities and quality management practices.
  • Indepth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Computer skills with experience in Autodesk Products, MS Office and MS Project, Bluebeam/Adobe.
  • At least 510 years of relevant progressive construction management experience.
  • A degree in construction related discipline is an asset.
  • Professional affiliations are an asset.
  • PMP Certification preferred.

Salary:
From $100,000.00 per year
