The Position:

CNC Operator Trainee


Job Summary (Nature of Work):

CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Operator generally operates CNC. CNC Operator performs repetitive operations.


Main Duties:


  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Perform tasks strictly in compliance with all Safety & Health requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and other work instructions.
  • Perform work tasks in compliance with the instruction from their Product Line Supervisor, Lead Hand or Setup Person.
  • Operate CNC
  • Load and unload parts.
  • Load/unload fixtures, cutting tools and set offsets only if approved by their Product Line Supervisor, Lead Hand or Setup Person.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Enter some of the commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions for outoftolerance machining only if approved by their Product Line Supervisor, Lead Hand or Setup Person.
  • Perform routine visual and operational inspection on the equipment, safety devices/guards and machinery and making sure they are in good order.
  • Reporting any problem to their Product Line Supervisor, Lead Hand or Setup Person.
  • Responsible for cleaning and organizing of used tools, equipment and workstation.
  • Any other duties which may be assigned by their Product Line Supervisor, Lead Hand or Setup Person.

Specific Skills:


  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Understand principles of Computer Numerical Controls.
  • Operate and CNC Lathes to perform repetitive machining operations.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers).
