    Role:


    Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Assistant Controller is accountable for managing the Company's reporting and accounting functions.

    This will include finance operations, financial and management reporting, and advice on implementations/enhancements of ERPs and other software systems for the Company.

    The Assistant Controller is also responsible for ensuring the compliance with established accounting standards and procedures, and the internal control over finance reporting ("ICFR") program, maintaining and improving business process and controls to ensure the effectiveness of the Company's ICFR program.

    This role is expected to provide leadership and training to finance and accounting staff, among other duties.

    Responsibilities:


    Manage the accounting function including day-to-day accounting, monthly and quarterly close and consolidation, quarterly and annual financial reporting and maintaining and enforcing Company's policies, process and controls.

    Advice on best practices on process improvements including improvements in existing ERP systems, co-ordinate the design and implementation of any new or existing tools in consideration of ICFR compliance.

    Prepare management reporting and financial analysis to provide key information to senior management and supporting business decisions.
    Improve efficiency in financial reporting on both timing and data transparency
    Provide leadership to the finance team through appropriate guidance and development/improvement, succession planning, building strong relationship and maintain highest levels of ethics and integrity
    Lead the auditing process, including review of the intercompany transactions, consolidations and financial statements. Coordinate timely preparation and feedback from external auditors of the financial statements.
    Continue to improve the ICFR program including the design and implementation of Company policies, process and controls.

    Keep up-to-date with technical accounting knowledge and updates under GAAP/ASPE, identify any new accounting issues within the organization and provide guidance to team on any complex accounting issues and maintain and review sufficient documentation including accounting memos and supporting schedules.


    Requirements:
    Chartered Professional Accountant designation with 8+ years post-designation experience.
    Experience working with fast-paced and dynamic multi-entity organizations. Experience in wholesale or distribution environment and/or public practice is an asset.
    Successful track record in business process implementation and improvement
    Extensive knowledge in external reporting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis
    Experience in SOX compliance and internal control over financial reporting is an asset.
    Strong knowledge of integrated financial and management information systems. Participated in the development of the infrastructure and systems needed to support integration and growth
    Excellent communication skills, including orally, written as well as in a presentation format
    Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency. Respected for the quality and accuracy of their work and able to spot discrepancies and investigate to ensure integrity of external reporting
    Effective team player with strong mentorship experience with all levels of staff members
    Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner
    Possess strong leadership skills and business acumen.

    The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
