GARDEN VALLEY SCHOOL DIVISION Big Picture Learning Program Teacher Posting 0 01- BP L -2 6 The Garden Valley School Division is looking for two (2) Full-Time BPL Program Teachers at Garden Valley Collegiate.
These positions offer a unique opportunity to support a dynamic, relationship driven, interest based high school model grounded in authentic, real world learning.
The Division:
Garden Valley School Division is a dynamic school division located in the heartland of Manitoba's beautiful Pembina Valley region.
The division has a student population of over 4,300 across 14 schools in the communities of Winkler, Plum Coulee, Schanzenfeld, Hochfeld, Blumenfeld, Reinland, and Blumengart.
The division's largest Centre, the City of Winkler, has all the amenities of a larger city within a rural setting.
The community is just over a one-hour drive to Winnipeg and surrounded by abundant recreational opportunities. " The BPL Program GVSD is introducing a new Big Picture Learning program at Garden Valley Collegiate, grounded in four pillars:One Student at a Time, Real World Learning, Advisory, and Authentic Assessment. This model offers a redesigned high school experience centered on student interests, community connections, and meaningful demonstrations of learning. BPL Teachers, referred to as Advisors, take on a role distinct from traditional classroom teaching. Advisors guide a small cohort of students through personalized learning, project design, academic growth, and real world experiences.
Qualifications /Experience :
A valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate. A strong commitment to personalized learning and student centered approaches. Experience building strong relationships with youth and families. A willingness to guide students through interest discovery, real world learning, and self directed project work. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. An ability to integrate Manitoba curriculum outcomes into non traditional learning environments. A growth oriented mindset and openness to ongoing professional learning. Experience with community partnerships, inquiry/project based learning, or experiential models is an asset.
