    We are currently seeking a Business Development Lawyer to join our Practice Innovation team based in the Firm's Halifax, NS office.

    Type of Position: Full-Time, Permanent

    The Opportunity:

    An integral member of the Firm's Business Development team, the Business Development Lawyer will be tasked with a number of responsibilities to support Stewart McKelvey's Firm-wide BD strategy.

    In particular, the successful candidate will lead the process for responding to and writing Requests for Proposals, Requests for Information, and Requests for Quotations, as well as review, prepare, amend and report on RFP contracts & terms of engagement. The Business Development Lawyer will also lead the assembly of proposal teams, review proposal specifics / gather relevant materials, and prepare applicable schedules and analysis.

    Our new team member will further be tasked with preparing for and participating in proposal interviews (including post-mortem proposal interviews), coordinating questions in advance of proposal submissions, tracking proposal activity data and expiry dates, and writing quarterly / annual reports for board meetings.

    Additional responsibilities of the Business Development Lawyer will include leading the development of alternative fee arrangements, novel/customized pricing solutions and rate renegotiation proposals (in consultation with the lead lawyer), coordinating the promotion of proposal activity at monthly practice-specific meetings, conducting pricing and client-specific data analyses to support strategic decision-making, supporting client service teams / practice groups with ad-hoc business development projects, and various other duties as assigned.

    Our successful candidate will also require strong research skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (including Excel and PowerPoint), the ability to concurrently manage multiple projects with competing demands and deadlines, and have a superior level of attention to detail.
