Job Summary
- Reporting to the Shop Supervisor (Carpentry) or a Zone Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for all paintrelated work on the University campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs all general maintenance and renovation assignments related to the painting trade
- Performs repairs to different surfaces such as wood, plaster, drywall, etc.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act, as well as University and Government rules and regulations
- Maintains a clean work environment
- Performs other duties as required
Note
- Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work inperson on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Valid course in painting techniques or equivalent experience required
- Five years recent and related experience required
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to matchin texture and colour of surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and furniture etc.
- Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints
- Proficiency in the use of paint spraying equipment
- Familiarity with current industry products and techniques (ie: twocomponent paints, epoxy coatings, waterborne paints, stains and coatings, etc.)
- Familiar with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as University and Government rules and regulations
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to direct others in foreperson capacity preferred
- Knowledge in the use of microcomputers preferred
- Reliable and punctual
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the tools of the trade
- Must be willing and able to work overtime, as required
- General safety, Fall Protection and WHMIS training an asset
