Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Housing Facilities, the primary purpose of this position is to provide housekeeping services within campus housing.
This includes:
- Setting up rooms for hotel/conference accommodations and laundering linens to support conference operations;
- Conducting room inspections;
- Reporting on conditions impacting the security, safety, and maintenance of residence facilities;
- Providing a variety of housekeeping and cleaning duties on a regular basis to ensure the health and safety of students and guests;
- Assisting with health and safety inspections;
- Moving and lifting furniture and/or equipment;
- Operating both manual and power operated equipment such as vacuums, extractors, autoscrubbers, steamers and buffers.
- Grade 12 or suitable combination of education and experience;
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred;
- Must have well developed communication skills (oral and written);
- Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and courteously with residents, guests, staff and general public;
- Ability to solve problems;
- Experience with diverse groups;
- Knowledge of materials and cleaning supplies used in the industry and procedures used in performing duties including knowledge of WHMIS;
- Good physical health and strength is required to lift and move moderate to heavy furniture and equipment;
- Ability to operate manual and power operated equipment;
- Preference given to students;
- Must be able to work flexible hours which can include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Work hours vary depending on business needs.
