What does a Security Guard in Toronto do?:

Monitor and control access points to the respite shelter, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
Verify the identity of individuals seeking respite services and ensure compliance with shelter policies.
Conduct regular patrols inside and around the shelter premises to deter and detect security risks.
Use surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond promptly to any unusual activities.
Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents within the shelter.
Follow established protocols for various types of emergencies, including medical situations, conflicts, or security threats.
Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
Assist in implementing shelter rules and regulations in a compassionate manner.
Administer immediate first aid and emergency assistance to shelter clients in need.
Coordinate with emergency services as required.
Operate video surveillance equipment

Qualifications to become a Security Guard in Toronto?:

Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard license in accordance with local regulations.
Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification Standard C approved by WSIB
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
Training in conflict resolution and deescalation techniques.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Tactical Security.
Any Law Related educational degree/diploma /certification like Police Foundations, Criminology is an asset.
Any pervious experience in handling people from the vulnerable section of the society is an asset
1 Year Military Experience is an asset
Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response.
