Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring safety is a priority to self, coworkers, the public, and the assets of the company and following policies and procedures set out by the company
• A daily walkaround inspection of the machine, general housekeeping of the machine, and minor repairs when necessary to ensure safe operation
• Daily administration of logbooks and work reports
• Compliance with track rules and instructions according to CROR
• Assist with manual labor when needed
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and managers
• Meet productivity level mandates set out by the supervisor or manager
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Ontario driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
• Experience operating one or more track or hirailed machines such as but not limited to the Spiker, Speed Swing, Regulator, TRIPP, Excavator, etc.
• High school or GED
• DZ Class License
• Must be able to pass all required training, background check, and drug & alcohol testing.
• Previous rail experience is an asset
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting
• Willing to work overtime and be on call
• Basic mechanical aptitude is required
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Previous Railroad experience is an asset
• Familiarity with Canadian Rail Operating Rules; Current Certification is an asset, but not required
• Crane Fundamentals or similar certification
• Experience with grapple attachments
• Good hand and eye coordination
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic

From $25.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Morning shift
• Night shift
• On call
• Overtime
• Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

Experience:

- crane: 1 year (preferred)

• Boom truck: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

• Air Brake Endorsement (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

• 75% (required)
