Position summary:
To support Petra's R&D Manager with creating new innovative product formulations in line with Petra's ethics and business strategies.
Responsibilities & duties:
- Assist in the development of new formulas; includes creation of theoretical formulation, bench mix development, product description/formulation sheets, lab tests, stability testing/monitoring, color verification, etc.
- Document all activities in a logbook for internal record and external audit purposes (sample submission book, enter formula into MRP system)
- Conduct all required performance and tests benchmark products and samples (eg. Solid, PH, viscosity)
- Source new raw materials and filing corresponding paperwork (CoA, SDS, etc)
- Manage R&D raw material inventory (I.e. Ability to process and utilize expiry log)
- Prepare stability samples and conduct weekly stability testing
- Forecasts current trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes and relays them to R&D Management
- Assist the R&D team with resolving routine customer and production problems
- Skilled to safely utilize basic lab equipment and chemicals
Job specifications:
Knowledge/education/experience:
- 1 years+ experience in a related manufacturing environment preferred. Postsecondary education in Chemistry or Cosmetics Science background preferred.
- Posses a positive cando attitude and can work in face paced environments
- Highly resourceful and with the ability to problem solve on a casebycase basis
- Obtains a highly proficient level of written and verbal communication skills required for successful job performance
- Follows privacy policies to frequent access to confidential or sensitive information
- Highlevel problemsolving skills synonymous with frequent strategic recommendations
- Highly attentive with the ability to sustain concentration long periods of time
- Able to think critically, listen, watch, verify and ask questions
- Comfortable within a manufacturing/laboratory environment with regular or some exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, noise, or temperature extremes; frequently faces multiple demands or distractions

$40,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
