Driver Shipper-Receiver Position

Position Description

Job Summary or Purpose:

To move freight efficiently, professionally and safely within reasonable allotted time frame and work in the Warehouse when required.

Job Duties:

Load and unload truck, either individually or with assistance of Shipper/Receiver.
Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition (trip inspections) before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip. Any problems encountered should be reported to Pollock.
Maintain required records, Driver's Daily Log for CVOR drivers.
Maintain neat appearance of truck; inside the cab at all times.
Perform all duties in accordance to company policies and procedures, and comply with all regulations for the safe operation of vehicle.
Maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas.
Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to delivery or pickup of
Present bills, and receipts, and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
Turn in receipts and money received freight from deliveries to office or placed in the safe immediately following each delivery.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safe and legal operation of motor vehicle
Safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination.
Proper handling of freight to assure safety and mínimal risk of damage to cargo and persons.
Professional representation of the company.

Job Specifications:

Must posses a valid License according to truck you are required to drive.
Must have ability to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs and maintain logs.
Must have knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
Must be prepared to accept route that management establishes to provide customer satisfaction on a daily basis.
Must be prepared to perform tasks in the warehouse that may consist of tidying cooler, grading product, packing product.
Must have knowledge or acquire knowledge of product.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit and remain alert while driving
Must be able to shift manual transmission (if applicable) and operate foot pedals.
Must be able to climb into and out of vehicles and fuel vehicles.
Must be able to perform occasional squatting, crouching to handle position of freight.
Must be able to perform occasional heavy lifting. (Average weight ranges from 25 lbs. to 40Lbs.)
Must be able to reach/twist in conjunction with pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, bending.
Must be able to spend time standing and walking.

Working Conditions:

Drivers must be able to work indoors as well as outdoors, and in temperatures, plus and minus.
Drivers may be required to work in confined areas.
Drivers must be reasonably organized to think out simple problems and perform adequately to accomplish every day tasks.
