Job Summary


The Officer Safety Information is responsible for verifying that incident investigation reports, safety findings, and corrective actions are logged, tracked, and completed.

The role also provides performance metrics and support to CN's subsidiaries and Operations team with the goal of improving safety performance.

Furthermore, the position implements various safety initiatives including leading training.


Main Responsibilities

Safety Data Management for CN

  • Ensure integrity of incident reporting system and provide support to regulators, including managing the Safety Call Closeout mailbox and reporting on Missing Closeout reports
  • Ensure integrity of Corrective Action Process related to incident investigation, risk assessments and audits findings
  • Provide followup support to CN's Operations on closing Overdue Corrective Action Items
  • Provide safety performance metrics to CN's Operations

Safety Data Management and Liaison for CN Subsidiaries

  • Prepare safety metrics and ensure safety data integrity
  • Prepare safety reports including maintaining targets per Supervisor, reports for subsidiaries, observations and verifications using information in Performance Monitoring Rules Compliance (PMRC)
  • Maintain and administer subsidiary safety incident reporting SharePoint sites
  • Train new subsidiary Terminal Managers on the use of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), PMRC and SharePoint

Subject Matter Expert for Various Safety Initiatives

  • Develop and implement Enablon workplace inspection processes for Health and Safety Committees
  • Manage the Engineering Body Mechanics Training Project
  • Carry out other safetyrelated projects as required

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Occasionally, the role is required to be performed outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions. The role requires mínimal travel (up to 5%) to perform safety audits and workshops.


Requirements:


Experience

  • Between 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience within the transportation or railroad industry
  • Experience within the safety field
  • Experience training others
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset

Education/Certification/Designation

  • College Diploma in a related field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following software: SAP, SharePoint, PMRC, Enablon
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
