Purpose:


The Corporate Relations Specialist role assists new and prospective corporate recruiters interested in hiring new graduates and/or interns from the Schulich School of Business (SSB).

In addition to researching, identifying, and contacting prospective recruiters, the role is a primary resource and point of contact for new recruiters seeking a relationship with SSB, initiates recruiting processes for current students and alumni, and assists other staff to provide first-class exceptional service levels to recruiters.

The role is a point of contact for prospective students for SSB programs.

The role provides administrative support to leadership for the Centre's Advisory Councils in Toronto, New York, San Francisco (USA), and London (UK), among others.

When required, and at the direction of the Centre's leadership, the role attends these Advisory Council meetings and travels to the stated locations to meet with recruiters, maintain relationships, and gather information on emerging industry trends and practices around professional recruiting.

During the busy recruiting cycle, the role advises and coaches students and alumni on job search skills, self-marketing tools and developing job leads to gain successful employment.

The role assists with arranging logistics for industry-specific corporate recruitment events, researching additional opportunities, assisting with reviewing resumes for inclusion in SSB's online resume repository, and contacting companies as required.

The role engages with SSB's student club representatives to assess t career needs, bring awareness to the Centre's offerings and services, and ensures student clubs are aligned with the Centre's objectives and SSB's brand with career related events/activities.


Education:


Undergraduate Business Degree from a recognized program/university or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.


Experience:


Five (5) years related and progressive experience in Corporate Relations, recruiting, human resources or in a professional search/recruiting and/or talent acquisition environment for a top-tier firm in Canada or the US.

Work experience requires a minimum of two years of direct customer relationship/service and coaching, advising or mentoring experience.

Must be able to maintain online employer and student databases, job postings, interview scheduling and statistical reports in Career Quest or other similar online recruiting software.

Training and experience as a career coach and current member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) is desired.

Advanced skills in Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer and Web Browsers and must be able to adapt to new and emerging multi-media platforms and programs as needed.


Other:


Knowledge of career opportunities in the field of Accounting, Banking and Real Estate, Consumer Packaged Goods, Consumer Services, Consulting, Finance, Financial Services, Healthcare, Retail, Technology & Telecommunications, as well as knowledge of relevant designations.

Knowledge in developing leads.
Knowledge in developing workshops, including conducting research and designing presentations.
Ability and willing to travel within and outside Canada.
Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential.
Professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality must be always maintained in a variable work environment.
Excellent judgement and initiative required.
