Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.
Work is carried out in a remote Arctic location with exposure to severe outdoor winter weather conditions.
There is also an option for community-based employment, at 40 hours/per week, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

Provide meals in accordance with approved cycle menu, in sufficient quantities of quality, wholesome food to feed personnel in accordance with the Daily Meal Day diner forecast and ensure that as much as possible the last diner has the same choice as the first
For personnel who cannot make it to the dining hall, provide hot packs or cold box meals as required
Assist in menu planning, placing food orders and inventory control
Implement all food services in compliance with the Food Safety Code of Practice and be thoroughly familiar with and comply with the guide
Maintain and inspect all kitchen and food dispensing/storage areas daily
Ensure all equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions and operating procedures
Participate in committee meetings as required, e.g., quality assurance, environment, health and safety etc.
Performs other duties assigned by a higher authority

Qualifications:

Apprentice Cook or Graduate Cook
Safe food handling training

Experience:

2+ years' experience in food preparation services, catering or related experience
Must be eligible for
ENHANCED RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company preemployment medical
Ability to work crossculturally and a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
