About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Senior Director, Data and Analytics, the Director, Performance and Analytics is responsible for developing and implementing the overall analytic strategy of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, with a $2.3 billion dollar budget.

The Director will be committed to a high standard of performance and will provide day to day planning, measurement, improvement and analytical expertise and support across the organization to support its strategic mission, vision and goals.

The Director will be directly overseeing analytical functions including organizational performance measurement, performance improvement, analytics-driven system priority setting, Quality and Sustainability planning (health services business planning) and integrated service planning, and advanced analytics/data science innovation and implementation.

These functions will be spread across several teams, with provincial resources and teams located throughout the zones.


This position contributes to the provision of strategic and operational leadership with analytical functions which enable and support the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality, provincially integrated health programs and services that are based on provincial standards of care, efficient, sustainable, safe and responsive to the needs of Nova Scotians.

The position leads the provision of analytics, performance measurement and performance improvement to support strategies and operational plans consistent with legislation, accountability frameworks and the mission, vision and values of the organization.

The position supports a provincial analytics strategy and assists with the design and development of numerous analytical projects and products to support the high-quality, effective, efficient and sustainable delivery of services and programs.

The position will foster and lead analytics initiatives that are leveraged across the breadth of the healthcare system and direct the design and implementation of cutting-edge analytics to achieve targeted outcomes.


The Director supports the Senior Director and Chief Data Officer (CDO), in the development and implementation a strategy for the delivery of organizational data and analytical services across the Nova Scotia Health ecosystem.

The Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of services and interventions that facilitates access to data across the full breadth of the health system and creates and delivers significant value creation through the exploitation of health system data and intelligence to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing outcomes across Nova Scotia.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's level preparation in a relevant field (health, informatics, analytics, etc.) is required
  • Undergraduate degree in a health discipline or a related field
  • Certified Health Executive is an asset
  • Certificate or training in Analytics, Information Management, Health Administration, Performance Improvement or a related program an asset
  • Minimum of 7 years senior leadership experience with directing and overseeing the data, analytical and performance improvement activities of an organization
  • Experience at a senior leadership level involved in planning and implementing a variety of largescale transformational projects and initiatives, provided across several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Leadership experience in organizational performance; organizational and operational strategy development, execution and monitoring
  • Experience engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participatory manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of integrated organizations and developing programs and standards to support the vision, goals and objectives of a healthcare organization.
