Sensity presents an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Intervenor to become part of the team in Campbellford, ON on a 12-month contract basis.

The role of the Intervenor is to assist individuals with dual sensory impairment in communication and daily activities, enabling them to lead independent lives.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Intervenor facilitates communication and daily living activities for individuals with dual sensory impairment to support independent living.

  • Supporting individuals in their home and community settings.
  • Utilizing communication techniques to convey information.
  • Empowering individuals to engage in daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, cleaning, volunteering, among others.
  • Providing necessary personal care (e.g., lifts, toileting, hygiene, medication administration, etc.).
  • Assisting with setting and achieving individual goals and objectives.
  • Contributing to program development.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.

Requirements:


  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or: Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Behavioral Science, or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience assisting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).

Applicants must hold a valid Class G driver's license, have access to a reliable vehicle, possess a clean current driver's abstract, and be able to obtain automobile insurance with at least $2 million in liability coverage.

Additional Information:


  • Employment is subject to a successful Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • This role involves repetitive hand movements, good manual dexterity, and moderate stooping, bending, and lifting. The ability to occasionally lift 35-50 lbs is required. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Knowledge of French (written and verbal) is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English are essential.
