Application Deadline:12:00 P.M., TUESDAY, June 13, 2023**- Provide personal counselling and direct case-management to students with diagnosed mental health concerns (Ministry Category H).

  • The CARES counsellor will work with the District Coordinator
  • Inclusive Learning (Behaviour and Social Emotional Support) to develop and supports a collaborative, schoolwide, mental wellness plan that includes professional learning opportunities for teachers and support staff.
  • Act as case manager, developing and implementing Individual Education Plans and support plans such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Provide an emotionally supportive environment for students with emotional challenges/internalizing behaviours/school avoidance and refusal/serious mental health barriers.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and provide academic support (focused instructional support) to a small group of students enrolled in support blocks.
  • Work directly with students in a "wraparound" model to develop comprehensive multidisciplinary support plans.
  • Liaise with Learning Services personnel and outside agencies to collaborate and coordinate supports for students and families.
  • Coordinate and deliver a range of assessments as appropriate.
  • Participate as a key member of the School Based Team.
  • Be responsive to the emerging needs of the school as needed. A wide range of students will be supported in the least restricted environment youth will access support as needed on a short term as well as long term basis.

Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology which includes a lengthy supervised counselling practicum. Knowledge of communitybased counselling services in Delta and the Lower Mainland and successful teaching experience.
  • Considerable experience working with students with emotional challenges/internalizing behaviours/school avoidance and refusal/serious mental health barriers.
  • Experience in student case management: developing and implementing Individual Education Plans and support plans such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Experience in creating and working in a Trauma Informed environment.
