SUMMARY STATEMENT
The role of the Summer Ministries Co-Leader is a SIX (6) MONTH TERM POSITION that is vital to the operation of Camp

Arnes and its programs and culture. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, and working alongside the Summer


Ministries Leader, the Co-Leader shall be jointly responsible for the development and administration of the Summer Ministries program for staff, volunteers, and campers.


RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:
Operations Director


Internal Contacts:
Executive Director, Department Heads, Summer Leadership Team, Registrar, Summer Staff, Camp Guidance Team, and Volunteers.

External Contacts:
Parents/Caregivers, Guests, Social Workers, the General Public, and Emergency Services


QUALIFICATIONS/CRITERIA

  • Has a mature, personal commitment to Jesus Christ, and models Christian character in their daily life.
  • Is able and willing to share the Gospel.
  • Possesses a valid child abuse registry check and criminal record check, as required.
  • Interacts with guests, campers, and staff in a consistently pleasant and respectful manner.
  • Agrees/supports the Camp Arnes Mission Statement, Code of Conduct, and Statement of Faith.
  • Has above average written and oral communication skills
  • Has experience working with Windows based computers and Microsoft 365 Products
  • Has experience with and passion for working with children and youth.
  • Possesses a servant leadership mindset.
  • Has leadership and mentoring experience and/or willingness to receive training in these areas.
  • Has experience with conflict management and resolving problems
  • Is flexible with work hours as required to fulfill duties.
  • Is open to mentorship and growth.
  • Can train and manage volunteers.
  • Has excellent organizational skills, with an eye for detail
  • Is creative, dynamic, and has an engaging personality.

SPECIFIC MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:


  • WORKS ALONGSIDE THE SUMMER MINISTRIES LEADER TO:
  • Assume the role of Summer Ministries Leader in their absence.
  • Oversee Sunday Staff Lighthouse, and daily Fireside and Lighthouse times.
  • Oversee the handling of all camper documentation and other procedures related to reports (internal and external).
  • Address camper issues to their resolution which includes all documentation.
  • Mediate and document summer staff issues, unless there is a deemed conflict of interest, to their resolution
  • Mediate and document parental concerns and staff relations. Camper and staff follow up
  • Facilitate and lead emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Summer Staff.
  • Facilitate and oversee staff devotionals.
  • Follow and enforce all policies, procedures, and MCA requirements
  • Coordinate End of Summer Debrief.

Faith formation:
a. Create an environment for teachable moments and what we share in those moments. All experiences merge to help develop and individual's faith or to plant a seed. b. Act as a liaison to Camp Speakers once they are on site. c. Bible exploration - all Camps. d. Work with LTP Camp Life Leader to develop Camp's emerging leaders e. Assist with developing prayer as a core to our ministry by praying with staff, volunteers, and campers regularly


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates and models safe practices in all aspects of Camp.
  • Assists in additional duties when needed in other areas of Camp.
  • Shares their Christian life and character with campers as they can.
  • Encourages, honors and respects fellow staff and leaders.
  • Promotes an encouraging and fun environment.
  • Respects and maintains their designated accommodations.
  • Presents a professional appearance and attitude, especially in the presence of parents and guests.
  • Upholds all Camp Arnes policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the Saturday Celebration Meetings once campers have left.
  • Is connected to a church community and, whenever possible, attends church on Sundays.
  • Prays for and with those in need, both guests and staff.
  • Does every task with the highest quality and standards in mind.
  • Ensures their own safety as well as that of other workers and guests.
  • Buys into and displays Camp's model of challenge and growth.
  • Seeks out work when daily jobs are done.
  • Completes other duties as requested by the Summer Ministries Leader or assigned by the Operations Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Requires ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including rain, heat and cold.
  • Requires ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 kilograms.
