Public Works Manager - Sylvan Lake, Canada - Summer Villages on Sylvan Lake

This is a full-time position working for the Summer Villages of Norglenwold, Jarvis Bay, Birchcliff, Sunbreaker Cove and Half Moon Bay.

• Contract management for all municipal services relating to Public Works. This includes mowing, snow removal, garbage/recycling collection, buoy and dock installation and removal, and all other maintenance contracts in the Summer Villages.
• Sign maintenance and replacement.
• Coordinate all tree removal, planting, and maintenance of greenspaces.
• Oversee and manage summer staff on a yearly basis.
• Project supervision and coordination. Common projects include drainage improvements, road maintenance, shoreline armoring and pathway construction/maintenance.
• Write and prepare RFQ/RFP's.
• Handle all communication with the public and contractors regarding all aspects of Public Works.
• Prepare reports and agenda items for monthly Council meetings for each of the 5 Summer Villages. Attend monthly Council meetings to present items relating to Public Works.
• Draft and present bylaws and policies relating to Public Works.
• Manage spring and fall start up and shut down programs.
• Coding of public works invoices.
• Responsible for managing the Public Works budgets and providing input into budgets for future years.
• Physical duties such as sign removal and installation
• Sewer system maintenance
• Landscaping work in greenspaces
• Administrative duties as required.

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a related field of work.
• Experience in Municipal Government would be considered an asset.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skill
• Strong computer software knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver's license
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs
• Prior experience doing physical work (landscaping education or work experience would be an asset)
• Comfortable working outdoors in poor weather conditions
