    As a part of our continued growth, our Burnaby, BC office is seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical (Power, Instrumentation, Control & Communications) Engineer/EIT to support studies, engineering design, procurement and execution of infrastructure for both surface and underground facilities. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to deliver various projects for our clients here in Canada and occasionally overseas.

    This position will enable you to utilize your strong technical skills and knowledge within the team, with the possibility of site construction and commissioning assistance. You may get the opportunity to travel to client sites as required for short term assignments.

    Reporting to the Electrical Lead, the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Demonstrate creativity, proactiveness, foresight and mature judgement in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges.
  • Ensure project work is undertaken in accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems.
  • Strictly adhere to AECOM's project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements as required.
  • Work within a project team environment and possess good presentation and client (internal & external) interface skills. This may include regular liaison with a mix of in-person and remote team members, to deliver a variety of projects.
  • Stays abreast of industry standards and implements best practices.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, undertake Electrical engineering design including MV/LV equipment selection, sizing, calculations, cost estimates and vendor liaison. Equipment includes grounding system, transformer, generator, switchgear, MCC, cables, cables supporting infrastructure, cable feeder, soft-starter, variable speed drives, standby power UPS, instrumentation, control devices and low-tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems).
  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, design and develop Electrical engineering documentation including engineering lists (load / maximum demand list, IO list, instrument and equipment list), specifications, cable schedules, power system modelling in eTAP or PTW and reporting of the analysis results.
  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, design and develop Electrical engineering drawings including MV / LV single line diagrams, MCC schematics, PLC / DCS termination diagrams, communications block diagrams, site equipment and services reticulation layouts, EHouse general arrangements, outdoor substation general arrangements, etc.
  • Under the supervision of an experienced engineer, produce procurement packages for EIC equipment and installation scope of work to facilitate project tender process.
  • Produce engineering reports / technical notes using sound engineering logic and written expression in English that is cohesive, clear and concise on Electrical subject matters.
  • Take direction, as approved by the Electrical lead, from Projects' Managers, other Leads and Engineers, and work closely with other discipline Drafters and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Undertake field investigation to facilitate project delivery as required.
