JOB DESCRIPTION - Apprentice - KINGSTON LOCATION
Youth employment opportunity with long-term potential for career advancement and training.

We are looking to build our Kingston team of Fire Protection Installers and priority will be given to those with a demonstrated interest and commitment to the Sprinkler and Fire Protection trade.


  • This will be a unionized position with a starting wage of ~$24.69/hr. + 12% HP.

Broad Responsibilities:


  • Support the execution of a safe and organized work environment/job site.
  • Assist Sprinkler foreman with installation of fire sprinkler systems, from initial start to final testing.
  • Installation of clamps, brackets, and hangers to support the piping system, sprinkler and fire protection equipment.
  • Join and connect pipes and piping sections to related piping systems, tanks, mains, pumps, compressors, and control equipment using various pipe joining methods.
  • Read and interpret drawings and cut sheets.

Day to Day Tasks:


  • QUESTIONS & TRAINING o Communicate to job foreman for clarification on any safety requirements and/or work procedures and tasks. o Confirm the expectations of submittals to the office administration as well as clarification on any policies and procedures.
  • SAFETY o Verify safety certification booklet is on hand and up to date.
- notify our operations manager if any safeties are expired or coming up for expiry. o Review the work site prior to beginning any work. o Confirm & Sign Pre Job Safety Instruction Forms. o Participate in the weekly safety talk utilizing provided handout, confirm and sign the safety talk form. o Wear appropriate PPE.

  • TOOLS
  • Set up and organize tools for the day. o Lock up tools for the evening and put them away.
  • MATERIAL o Confirm packing slips match qty and items delivered. o Submit packing slips to office.
  • CLEAN UP o Clean up all garbage, tools, and waste on job site before leaving at the end of day.

  • WHIMIS
  • Working at Heights (Fall Protection)
  • Elevated Platforms / Scissor Lift
  • Health & Safety Awareness _Worker_
  • Highschool Transcript
  • Drivers License

Required Attributes:

- strength and stamina appropriate to providing manual labor (9-hour workdays)
- manual dexterity

  • Initiative to learn and advance in a trade.
- the ability to work at heights.
- the ability to use proper lifting techniques to lift items weighing in excess of 25 kilograms.
- the ability to communicate and coordinate with other trades.

  • Be mechanically inclined.
  • Be able to operate man lifts (training can be provided).

WILL NEED YOUR OWN VEHICLE AND MAY BE REQUIRED TO DRIVE TO OTTAWA ONTARIO AS NEEDED OR OTHER LOCATIONS LIKE NAPANEE
