THE OPPORTUNITY

CANDIDATE PROFILE

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with knowledge holders and the Biinaagami team to conceptualize, plan, write, assign and edit stories in a variety of formats for _Canadian Geographic_ magazine, , and the Biinaagami website, with a focus on the environment, people and wildlife of the Great Lakes region
  • Write and edit copy for the Biinaagami website
  • Assist with the development and scripting of augmented reality experiences for the Biinaagami giant floor map and educational program
  • Develop stories and guide video production for six short videos to augment the giant floor map and educational program
  • Represent _Canadian Geographic_ and Biinaagami at conferences, stakeholder meetings and other events in addition to creating multimedia content related to these events (i.e. still images, video clips, and/or reported stories)
  • Work with _Canadian Geographic_'s social media specialist to populate the social media channels of Biinaagami with fresh, engaging, and inspiring content

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or diploma in journalism or communications
  • Minimum of two years related experience
  • Superior editing and writing skills
  • Experience building articles and web pages in WordPress
  • Experience capturing video and audio content
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms
  • Multilingual (Anishinaabemowin, Mohawk, English, and/or French) considered an asset

Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year


Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required

  • Monday to Friday
