ENV222H1 explores the concept and practice of sustainability by integrating scientific, technological, economic, political, psychological, historical, and ethical perspectives.

The course begins by analyzing the challenges posed by the ecological crisis, including its historical roots.

It then goes on to explore and evaluate a variety of approaches, strategies, and actions—at a personal, local, national, and global scale—that could move us towards authentic sustainability.

Estimated TA support: 436 hours

Lectures, Tuesday, 3-5 pm.

January 1, April 30, 2024


Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9457.90; Sessional Lecture 1 Long Term - $9930.79;
Sessional Lecturer II - $ ; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $ ;
Sessional Lecturer III - $ ; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or masters with equivalent professional and/or academic experience required.

An interdisciplinary understanding of sustainability, and the approaches, strategies and actions - at a personal, local, national and global scale - that can facilitate the transition to authentic sustainability.


Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching a similar course is desirable.


Duties of course instructor:

to teach the course: to develop and revise course curriculum; deliver weekly lectures or arrange guest lecturers; conduct weekly practical; arrange required readings; hold office hours; evaluate student performance, and supervise TA's.
