JOB SUMMARY


The role of Superintendent, Electrical Division, will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously at the field level and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with mentorship of Foreman, sub-contractors, and inspection authorities during on-site inspections.

The Superintendent will ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, codes/regulations and will provide feedback to the Construction Manager on a regular basis.

ROLE OBJECTIVES:


  • Lead and oversee the execution of construction, executing the coordination of scheduled and forecasted activities, ensuring a high level of safety and quality that matches the project goals and objectives.
  • Identify, mitigate, and track construction issues and lessons learned for debrief and feedback.
  • Communication of direction, plans and schedules to our field crews, ensuring commitments to schedule are met and updates are provided to Construction Manager in a timely manner.
  • Proactively identifying any changes in material and equipment needs in a planned manner to ensure we are mitigating delays and maximizing efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for succession planning and performance management of onsite leadership (Foreman) and provide any required training.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Attend Project Kick Off Meetings (Internal) when applicable.
  • Execution of resource plan including requesting equipment requests for additional labor and equipment to the Construction Manager.
  • Identify Sub-Contractors needs in alignment with resource plan, scope, and opportunities to increase project efficiency.
  • Identify internal training requirements and requests for development or scope requirements.
  • Collaboration with CM on baseline schedule and expectations and communication to field crews.
  • Monitor and review overtime utilization to ensure requirements and efficiencies are aligned with project needs.
  • Act as the second approver for daily timesheets submitted by FM.
  • Review and communicate site specific work plans with field leadership.
  • Coordinate project material release with Construction Manager based on schedule and site requirements.
  • Review and approve project specific materials and consumables ordered by site Foreman.
  • Request required locates/dig areas for all projects and renewals.
  • Attend project preconstruction site meetings.
  • Complete preconstruction walkthroughs of job site to identify site readiness and any preexisting damages or potential design conflicts from initial scope.


  • QAQC Management

  • Complete site inspections and walkthroughs with Foreman and Lead Hands, ensuring scope is built to design and expected quality prior to requesting third party inspections.
  • Document and track project deficiencies and outstanding tasks and communicate to CM to update any impacts to schedule.
  • Ensure field leadership is coordinating third party inspection requests as required by the project.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Fieldwire and related software
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure when faced with unexpected occurrences.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analysing and solving problems.
  • Available to work 6 days per week and overtime as required.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:


  • At least 5 years of construction leadership experience in the utility and/or electrical industry.
  • Red Seal and or Alberta Journeyman Electrician
  • Utility Locating Experience
  • Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record

  • Pass a preemployment drug and alcohol screen.
