Position Overview We have a 2 Year Temporary Full-Time opportunity available within our Facilities Department for a Coordinator of Maintenance to help support the effective operation of District building assets.

    In this role you will coordinate with contractors and internal staff to complete various maintenance programs, including heating, air conditioning, janitorial, plumbing, electrical, access control fire and life safety, and other equipment for District-owned properties. In this role, you will perform technical building and site inspections, respond to service and after-hours emergency calls, identify and assess occupant complaints, and perform repairs, cleaning and servicing as required. Assigned tasks may include regularly liaising with outside contractors and internal departments to develop and maintain a preventative routine maintenance schedule, coordinate planned alterations and minor renovations. You will assist in the preparation of cost estimates and control expenditures for building and equipment maintenance and repairs as well as other tasks as assigned. The work requires considerable independent judgement in day-to-day activities and the coordinating of property maintenance work.

    The successful candidate will have:

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building maintenance, servicing and repair work;
  • Considerable knowledge of the functions and operations of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing and electrical equipment and related systems;
  • Ability to identify potential problems and to operate, maintain and make minor repairs to various building systems;
  • Considerable knowledge of the different trades involved in building repairs, minor renovations and general maintenance of buildings;
  • Sound knowledge of building security, access control, video monitoring and building automation systems;
  • Experience working with HVAC Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);
  • Working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in preparing specifications for building maintenance work;
  • Some knowledge of estimating and contract preparation as related to work performed;
  • Ability to understand drawings and specifications and to prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records related to the work;
  • Your strong interpersonal and customer service skills will facilitate cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required.
  • Qualifications Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by technical courses in building technology, plus sound related experience in the construction or maintenance field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is required.
