Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate in planning and facilitating the school counselling program including teaching and supporting students' social and emotional learning (SEL)
- Fostering genuine and supportive relationships with members of the school community that promote an atmosphere of mutual respect and care
- Provide teaching sessions to students, parents and teachers to support the emotional wellbeing of our school community in large and small group or individual sessions
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and record keeping while ensuring professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Support the overall wellbeing of all students through involvement in the school's cocurricular programs
- Be available outside the normal school day to respond to emergencies as necessary
- Thorough understanding of best practices in secondary education
- Commitment to ensuring high standards of care and professional practice
- Ability to inspire others through collaboration and teambuilding
- Strong management skills, including the ability to prioritize and delegate
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of Independent Schools is an asset
Requirements for the position:
- Graduate Level training in Counselling Psychology or equivalent training or program
- At least 2 years' experience working with adolescents
- Teacher training and certification is preferred
