Commercial Finance Manager

(Mississauga, ON)


Reporting to the Director of FP&A, the Commercial Finance Manager will be a key leader on the commercial side of the business and strong business partner to sales, marketing, R&D on driving pricing and probability throughout the organization.

This person will provide both insights and corrective actions on all commercial activities that impact the financial health of the company (pricing, margin etc.)

_Key tasks_

  • Be a primary financial business partner to the business development team, providing insight on pricing strategies and account profitability for existing and new business opportunities
  • Ability to translate data into business insight and provide management with direction for operational efficiencies
  • Development of financial plans including partnering with Sales team to budget and forecast for the short and long term
  • Provide financial visibility, including the profitability, revenue, and pricing for new and existing opportunities
  • Work crossfunctionally across the business with exposure to senior leadership on financial efficiencies
  • Drive efficiencies to ensure contracts remain financially viable and are delivered on budget
  • Review financial models to assess future profitability of identified opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through pricing strategies
  • Guide the sales team on the best approach to customer opportunities using the knowledge of the market, business strategy, plant capacities, customer value created by Puratos analytical models providing trend information & the behavior of the buyer
  • Project cost evolution and detect ingredients risks. Adjust pricing approach and protect profitability accordingly.
  • Work closely with Purchasing department to establish booking of ingredients for long term contracts
  • Determine new prices by obtaining ingredient costs from purchasing due to seasonality and/or market fluctuations
  • Responds to complex pricing inquiries and supports the resolution of price discrepancies
  • Regular pricing benchmark across customers and market alignment
  • Simplification of pricing processes and reduction of anomalies (manual pricing, credits...)
  • Provide pricing quotation analysis for Sales management. Confer with sales and marketing teams to develop proposals and quotations
  • Perform margin and pricing analysis in order to support business initiatives & guarantee profitability
  • Supports the timely and accurate execution and monitoring of price adjustments and new product pricing
  • Participates on crossfunctional and system related projects as a Subject Matter Expert

_Requirements_

  • Education
  • University degree in related field
  • CPA / MBA preferred
  • Experience
  • 5+ years of practical experience in pricing, finance and risk management
  • Skills
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Excel & systems guru proficiency in Microsoft Office required; SAP experience required.
