General Description of the Role


The HSES Manager is responsible for the implementation and management of workplace health, safety, environment and sustainability systems that will reduce risk to people, the environment and property, and maximize profit and competitive advantage.


Mission/Objectives


The HSES Manager will work with all departments to ensure safety, health, and environmental standards and guidelines are fully implemented and being followed and identify opportunities for us to operate in a manner that reduces risk, resource consumption and waste generation.


Key Responsibilities and Activities

People Safety:


  • Develop, implement and manage sitewide safety programs, ensuring effective health and safety practices, managing hazards and controlling risks.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and prioritizing of safety activities through the identification of potential risks and evaluation of existing exposures.
  • Conduct job hazard evaluations and analysis and put in place appropriate risk control policies and procedures.
  • Lead and facilitate regular safety inspections to identify atrisk behaviors, conditions and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement employee based HSES initiatives to build employee engagement and empowerment.
  • Support organizational and operational changes through the evaluation of safety and health risks and the provision of risk controlling solutions.
  • Lead incident (injury, environmental and asset damage) investigations, identify causal factors, and drive implementation of the corrective actions.

Environmental
Safety:


  • Manage all environmental sustainability projects across the site.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and prioritizing of environmental safety and sustainability programs through the identification of potential risks, regulatory compliance mandates and evaluation of existing exposures.
  • Manage the tracking and reporting of all company, local, provincial, and federal based energy, water waste and greenhouse gas (ghg) compliance activities.
  • Evaluate environmental best practices and make recommendations that drive competitive advantage and/or improve performance through the capital budgeting process to implement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and other Campari functions on the development and implementation of structures, equipment and production equipment to ensure compliance to environmental strategies.

Training & Development:


  • Develop, implement and facilitate programs to properly train and embed safety capabilities across the site.
  • Maintain tracking documentation of all training activities on site.
  • Provide ad hoc coaching and direction to drive a positive and valuesbased safety culture.
  • Ensure site leaders are equipped with the ability to coach and develop safety practices within their teams.

Cost Control and Project Management:


  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining safety standards.
  • Manage all related projects, coordinating effectively across functional areas and ensuring ontime, ontarget, at or below budget delivery of scheduled outcomes.

_Education_

  • Bachelor's Degree in Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
