As a key member of the School of Justice & Community Development, you will play a pivotal role by demonstrating teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery.


The SSW program is four semesters in length with classroom-based courses in the first three semesters and a block placement in the final semester.

Applied learning activities are infused into our classroom-based courses and building on the above knowledge and skills gained, a full-time placement in the fourth and final semester of the program provides a range of practice opportunities in a work setting.

Additionally, upon having successfully completed this program SSW students will have the necessary skills for employment as a Social Service Worker in Ontario and be eligible for membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services.


Please Note:
This position has been designated as on-campus and is expected on-site 100% of the time. There are two vacancies - one January start date and one May start date.

Due to year-round delivery of programs, teaching may be assigned through the summer and vacation will be taken at other times of the year.

What We Are Looking For:

You possess a relevant combination of current experience and education including a minimum of a Masters of Social Work. You are also a member in good standing in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.


In addition you have:

  • Experience in applied research would be an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent (within last 3 years), related experience in a Social Work position working directly with a variety of clients.
  • Ongoing professional development has fostered your awareness of current practice, innovative trends and emerging issues within the Social Work field.
  • Demonstrated experience and comfort working within a multidisciplinary team environment and proven abilities to form partnerships in the community for the purposes of enhancing the student experience.
  • Ability to enhance the student experience, proven by creation of a rich learning environment and creative teaching and evaluation methods.
  • Champion student success through the use of effective, consistent and timely feedback underpinned with a competency and outcomes based approach to achievement.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deliver and receive feedback, as well as welldeveloped critical thinking/problem solving and organizational / time management skills are required.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning as a dual professional, fostering relationships and connections while providing accessible, superior service to students.
  • Curriculum design and development experience at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience in developing/delivering educational materials in alternative formats is a definite asset.
