We're looking for a Financial Planning Consultant to join our organization.

As a Financial Planning Consultant, you will be responsible for lifting the overall financial planning expertise across Canada Life's Advisor Network and promoting the benefits of financial planning for Advisors and their clients.


What you will do

  • Proactively builds 1:1 relationships with Advisors to uncover gaps or opportunities to increase knowledge related to financial planning and inform development and training needs.
  • Uses a consultative approach to motivate, influence and coach advisors to adopt financial planning as a central element of their client value proposition
  • Conduct training workshops for advisors and their ops team on financial planning best practices and tools, including their integration into advice, sales and service processes.
  • Drive increase in number of certified Advisors with CFP certifications on an annual basis in order to elevate overall Advisor sales
  • Proactively consult on advanced/complex cases to enable Advisors to utilize Certified Financial Planning principles, practice standards, tools and resources to provide best recommendations to clients across a wide range of disciplines (e.g. retirement income planning, estate planning/wealth transfer, corporate planning for business owners, insurance and investment product solutions, etc.) )
  • Develops 'expert status' in the use of Canada Life financial planning tools and resources in order to influence the ongoing delivery and adoption of new or existing financial planning tools and processes (e.g. goalsbased planning)

What you will bring

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in Financial Services/Insurance industry
  • Completion of postsecondary degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Certified Financial Planning accreditation required and maintenance of good standing
  • Strong sales or wholesaling experience and relationshipbuilding skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proficient across full spectrum of financial planning needs, from simple/modular planning focused on single needs to comprehensive or advanced financial planning strategies that address complex client situations.
  • Effective facilitator of larger group training sessions, with proven ability to tailor content to needs of various audiences (i.e. based on level of financial planning experience and complexity of client needs).
  • Strong customer service skills, demonstrating responsiveness and initiative in responding to and anticipating advisor needs
  • Broad product knowledge with appetite and aptitude for continuous learning to continue to deepen expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow endtoend financial planning process with emphasis on strong/needsbased analysis that is oriented around achievement of client lifetime goals (i.e. Can effectively translate planning and advice strategies into client focused recommendations).
