DEFINITION:
_

Under the direction of a Working Foreman, a student classification as defined by the Collective Agreement, who performs various manual labour tasks and operates small hand and power tools._

_

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
_
- _ Perform manual labour including, but not limited to, shovel, rake and pick work, grass and brush clearing, public refuse collection etc.;_
- _ Assist other employees with their duties including, but not limited to, gardening, pavement repair, drainage ditch maintenance, wastewater lagoon maintenance etc.;_
- _ Operate power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, sole plate packer, lawn mower, weedeater, and other hand tools;_
- _ Drive light vehicles, as required;_
- _ Inspect equipment daily for visible damage, for fluid and fuel requirements, electrical systems, tire checks, etc., and report any defects to Working Foreman;_
- _ Shift work may be required;_
- _ Other duties, as required._

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
_
- _ Completion of 1 year of full time post-secondary education, continuing studies on a full time basis in September_
- _ Ability to operate related equipment;_
- _ Good physical condition and able to perform heavy manual labour;_
- _ Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;_
- _ Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;_
- _ Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence._
- _ First Aid training is considered an asset; _
