Job Summary


The RPAS Traffic Management (RTM) directorate in NAV CANADA is responsible for the digital services that facilitate the safe integration of RPAS (drones) into Canadian airspace.

Given its wide remit covering RPAS operations and technology the RTM directorate includes operational personnel, engineering, and technical solutions in one dedicated team.


In response to new regulations in 2019 NAV CANADA launched NAV Drone, a suite of cloud-based software available on web and mobile devices.

The RTM team supports NAV Drone enhancements and modifications including major updates required to support increasingly complex regulations and RPAS operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • As a Business Analyst in the RPAS Traffic Management directorate, your contribution is critical to the ongoing support and development of the digital services NAV CANADA provides to both the RPAS operators and the NAV CANADA internal (Air Traffic Services
  • ATS) users
  • NAV Drone is a safety critical operational system which is developed by a third party collaborating with NAV CANADA and follows appropriate NAV CANADA Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management framework
  • The Business Analyst role will specialize in RPAS Traffic Management (RTM) primarily engaging in three key areas:
  • Product management responsibilities including requirements, life cycle management, and release planning coordinated closely with the supplier
  • Test case development and execution
  • Second level support for the service for both internal and external users
  • Act as solution authority for the existing NAV Drone service; with ownership of the concept of operations, experience and intended use cases
  • Assist in analyses, planning, specifications, definitions, systems interface and other technical requirements for NAV Drone initiatives to ensure current and future interoperability with NAV CANADA systems/engineering infrastructure
  • Provide expertise in the design, development and implementation of changes and customer service enhancements, including: technical feasibility, business process modelling, design, guiding third party development, testing, configuration, documentation, implementation
  • Define functional and nonfunctional requirements, such as standards, user and security, assist in conducting cost/benefit analysis, contribute to the conceptual and physical design of the projects, and lead implementation
  • Provide second and/or thirdlevel support for software and hardware problems passed on by first level support mechanisms. Leveraging third level support from vendor as needed
  • Use and maintenance of various information systems and productivity tools including Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Customer service enhancements, policies, standards, guidelines, and recommended practices
  • Test to assure quality, monitor and maintain to ensure interoperability, reliability, security, optimum performance levels, capacity assessment, configuration management, software and hardware support, systems support, network and data security, complex problem resolution, in service support training
  • Consult other functions, disciplines and clients. Build crossfunctional relationships to gain support
Job Requirements


Education:


  • Graduate from a recognized university/college with a degree/certification in a business discipline and/or computer sciences/information systems or an acceptable combination of education, related experience and training

Experience:


  • 3+ years of progressive experience as a business analyst in an enterprise environment working with business and technical stakeholders involved in new product introduction, and the lifecycle maintenance and support activities one or more products
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in developing, supporting and enhancing business processes, leading business process modelling exercises, developing business requirements, analysing and documenting functional requirements and nonfunctional requirements
  • Significant and recent experience developing test cases/acceptance criteria and performing all levels of testing and defect management

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the AGILE process used in support of software development testing and user experience validation testing
  • Knowledge of business process modeling, use case development, persona development and requirement elicitation techniques
  • Current knowledge of industry trends and developments
