    About the Position:

    The Corporate Accountant will take on an integral role in the corporate accounting team. This individual will assist with the month-end cycle, treasury, and budgeting process. The ideal candidate will be an entry level accounting professional with a keen eye for detail, have a solid understanding of accounting principles and have a desire to learn and grow within Hazelview Properties. This role will report directly to Senior Corporate Accountant.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Corporate Accounting

    • Actively support in month-end cycle through chargebacks, accruals, maintenance of balance sheet schedules, and departmental reporting of Hazelview Properties and its subsidiaries.
    • Reconciling and clearing inter-company receivables and balance sheet accounts.
    • Assist in providing audit support and documentation.
    • Assist with ad-hoc projects as requested by Senior Management.

    Treasury

    • Create inter-company transfers and wire payments to external parties in the online banking platform.
    • Assist in maintaining the cashflow transactions through posting of bank reconciliations.
    • Coordinate with Property Accounting Team and financial institutions.

    Budgeting

    • Actively support the annual corporate budgeting process.
    • Co-ordinate with various departments and regions throughout the budgeting and forecasting processes.
    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of Budget Templates.

    Job Requirements:

    Education and Experience:

    • Degree in Finance or Accounting.
    • Minimum of 2 year of work experience in a Corporate Accounting or Financial Analyst Role.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools – i.e. Excel/PowerPoint and working knowledge in PowerPivot is preferred.
    • Interested or working towards CPA designation, is considered as an asset.
    • Knowledge of Yardi considered an asset.

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent communication is required. Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset.

    • Flexible with a "can-do" attitude and a "no task is too big or too small" attitude.
    • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
    • Superior attention to detail and accuracy and excellent follow-up skills
