Position Overview
We are actively seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in a new residential development.
The CSO will be responsible for implementing safety measures, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety on the construction site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for executing Beedie HS&E programs in all types of situations (project startup, duration and close out) on our job sites
- Promoting a culture of job site safety, where safety is a shared responsibility
- Preparing site safety plans, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments as required
- Ensuring all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties
- Facilitating and participating in site inspections, and implementing corrective action as required
- Regularly monitoring safety compliance of workers and subcontractors
- Conducting safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Maintaining and preparing thorough documentation and reports
- Keeping management updated on issues that arise
- Administering firstaid as necessary
- Performing other duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or (NCSO) designation
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety considered an asset
- Minimum of 2 years Health and Safety experience
- Minimum Occupational First Aid Level II (OFA 2)
- Good knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards
- Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to commute to site
- Own vehicle required
