    Position Overview

    Reporting to the Production Supervisor and taking direction from the area Lead Hand, the Laundry Aide I is responsible for laundry production and specifically performing assigned duties in any of the following areas: Small Piece/Hand Folding, Flat Iron, Uniform, Operating Room (OR) Processing, and Dryer. Working with specialized machinery to assist the incumbent in the folding operations, the incumbent pulls pieces of linen from tubs or bins and feeds the linen into machines or hand folds linen in a specific manner for processing. Transports stacks of linen manually and places onto carts or shelving units.

    Experience

  • Previous related experience in a large institutional or commercial laundry environment preferred.
  • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.
  • Physical Requirements

  • The incumbent is required to stand, reach, bend, lift, push and stretch for sustained periods in order to perform tasks designated as Laundry Aide I duties.
  • The incumbent must be able to meet or exceed minimum productivity standards established by the WRHA Laundry Operations.
  • This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

    Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
