    As a Project Controls Specialist you will work with cross-functional teams by ensuring proper cost structures, procedures, and controls are in place for each project so we can deliver safely, on time, and within budget for the numerous capital projects, as well as annual Turnarounds, taking place at our refinery in Saint John, NB.

  • Your Responsibilities:

  • Participate in development of the project baselines.
  • Maintain the established project cost program and prepare schedule/cost status reports.
  • Gather and compile accurate cost management data from various sources to prepare accurate project cost reports weekly or monthly basis as required.
  • Analyze variances in cost, schedule performance (CPI & SPI) and communicate issues and reasons for the variances. Propose mitigation plans to Project Management.
  • Maintain project change management and field change management.
  • Develop contingency and escalation management plans.
  • Support the development of Class 5 to Class 1 estimates and recast into the various project controls systems.
  • Review and validate contractor quotes against the project baseline to identify variances and support the requisition preparation for contract services.
  • Participate in project kickoff, contractor kickoff and ongoing status meetings.
  • Prepare project cost and progress reports, participate in regular project cost review and other project status meetings.
  • Earned Value Measurement in engineering, procurement and construction.
  • Develop the work breakdown and project coding structures for control and integrity of work to be performed.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Management, Project, and Control level schedules as required.
  • Support project closeout process.
  • Your Skills :

  • Strong data analyst skills; able to provide meaningful, accurate numbers with recommendations.
  • Knowledge of cost management systems.
  • Project Schedule knowledge (Primavera P6).
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Communication and Presentation skills; able to tell a compelling story based on accurate data.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, Trades or equivalent experience.​
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a directly related role.
  • Engineering, Construction or Project Management experience an asset.
  • AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) or PMP (Project Management Professional) designation an asset.
  • Experience in an industrial construction environment an asset.
