About the Role:


Uber Eats is looking for a Strategic Operations Lead to manage the ingestion and merchandising of catalogs across grocery, convenience and alcohol, ensuring a best-in-class shopping experience for customers.

This operations role calls for a combination of creative problem-solving, operational optimization, data analytics, and project management.

You should be comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, enjoy solving problems and thrive in a startup environment.

You will work cross-functionally with other teams and external partners to launch and grow this new arm of the Uber Eats business.


What You'll Do:


  • Build: As we grow grocery on Uber Eats, we will work to bring more stores and item selection to the Uber Eats platform. This role will be responsible for onboarding, optimizing, and merchandising large grocery and retail catalogs on the Uber Eats platform.
  • Analyze: Quantify everything you do. Utilize datadriven decision making to understand business trends and craft your recommendations to senior leadership
  • Lead: You will build and lead a team of operations managers that own a specific area of the catalog ingestions/optimization process, foster a collaborative team environment, and invest in your direct reports' growth
  • Strategize: Develop business cases, prioritization frameworks, implementation plans, and growth strategies for product launches
  • Set the high bar: Establish and track against KPIs to ensure a best in class earner and consumer shopping experience based on the catalogs. Optimizing our catalog onboarding and enrichment funnel to ensure that we ar able to accurately represent the full inventory available in each store on the app.
  • Turn strategy into action: Program manage all aspects of the inapp item shopping experience as required to bring the best New Verticals experience to customers on the Uber platform
  • Collaborate: Work with internal and external stakeholders to create new ways for merchants to fulfill customers' orders, and deeply understand the merchant, courier and consumer painpoints related to catalog then solve for these

Basic Qualifications:


  • 6+ years of operations, business/ general management, ecommerce catalog management, strategy, planning, management consulting or similar experience
  • Proficiency in Excel/ Google Sheets required, SQL proficiency preferred
  • Experience managing small teams with outsized business impact
  • Bachelor degree

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Ecommerce catalog management combining data from multiple sources, experience in a high growth tech company, strategy work in a large business, or consulting for a large retailer on catalog (5+ years in the above preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to tackle problems logically; Datadriven approach to decision making and sound business judgment to determine project performance and financial viability, grounded in analytical thinking
  • Strong project management skills who can bring order to ambiguous problems and help align partners through to execution
  • Bias toward action and master simplifier constantly pushing toward clarity and execution
  • Phenomenal collaborator and someone who proactively partners across teams
  • Selfmotivated, works independently and possess strong organization and time management skills
  • Creative approach that enjoys experimentation and is willing to take bold bets despite risk of failure
