Stonebridge Community Services is a non-profit fee for service organization serving the tri-county area of Oxford/Elgin/Norfolk, providing a wide array of community support services.

Staff and management provide high quality, client driven care programs which assist members of the community with their life care (home support) needs as well as provide health and wellness programs.

We currently have an opportunity for a
part-time Health & Wellness (Seniors) Fitness Instructor.

Position Summary & Purpose:


The Stonebridge Health & Wellness Fitness Instructor has the primary responsibility of instructing Senior Fitness Classes in various locations throughout Norfolk County.

The instructor is responsible for ensuring the safe and suitable participation of older adults in group exercise classes which follow the guidelines taught in the Senior Fitness Instructors Course (SFIC).

This is a part-time position of up to approximately 25 hours per week. Other Health & Wellness programming responsibilities may be included in this role as needed.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Instruct exercise and walking classes for seniors, following the guidelines outlined in the Senior Fitness Instructors Course
  • Assist in the oversight and facilitation of other Health & Wellness programs, demonstrations and presentations, as needed (e.g. Pickle ball, Urban Poling)
  • Promote Stonebridge Health & Wellness programs through various advertising and marketing strategies including but not limited to social media, large and small group presentations, participation at community fairs, newspaper, flyer and mail distribution
  • Promote healthy, balanced lifestyles, teamwork and inclusive participation.

Job Requirements:


  • SFIC certificate or other fitness related certification (ie. CanFit Pro, CFES)
  • CPR & First Aid certificate
  • Experience instructing group exercise classes
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication, networking, interpersonal and team building skills; and
  • Strong work ethic with a history of exceptional attendance and reliability
  • Passion for healthy, wellbalanced and a physically active lifestyle
