Overview
Complete Utility Contractors is a lower mainland based and highly experienced civil/utility company. We are actively seeking career minded individuals that wish to continually grow and develop within our organization.
We are currently looking to fill a Foreperson position which is critical to executing on our committed project workload for 2024.
The Superintendent is considered a front line manager/ supervisor.They are expected to bring a wealth of field experience to the table to support and drive the project from a field level.
They work closely with Project Managers, and the Foremen to ensure the project is moving in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Resolve onsite issues and emergencies. Lead from the front establish a good working relationship and example amongst the project team.
- Drive production and daily deliverables.
- Support the project with field knowledge and on site presence.
- Implement safety and quality guidelines.
- Monitor and track project progress.
- Understand the project budget, aim to keep costs low and production high.
- Manage site project team handle and/or communicate onsite issues and disturbances.
- Supervise field staff and provide constructive feedback.
- Plan Construction processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, and project team to fulfill project needs.
- Keep track of material stock, rentals, and orders.
- Oversees the daily activities at work site, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress reporting.
- Resolves disputes and arranges any necessary changes.
- Works with Contractors to plan required work activities.
- Promote safety and assist with the implementation of all applicable HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
- Delegate and manage daily tasks given to field team members.
- Determines subcontractors & site staffing requirements.
- Monitors equipment, & tool usage on the site
- Assist in monitoring construction work schedules including look ahead schedules.
- Assist in coordinating subcontractors, arrange, and attend subcontractor coordination.
- Coach and mentor the Foreman on safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling, Ensure the Foreman knows and understands the plan of the day.
- Promote and adhere to company policies including OHS. Correct unsafe acts and conditions.
- Participate in annual performance reviews of Foreman.
- Assist HR with hiring and recruitment at times.
- Monitor Foreman's responsibility to review safe work practices, procedures, and work plans with expertise.
- Train Foreman to prepare and maintain work schedules.
- Must be prepared to perform other tasks when Foreman are not available including vacation relief.
- Participate in incident investigations and site inspections.
- Ensure all workers properly handle, store, and maintain assigned equipment.
- Monitor small tools and consumables procurement with Foreman's input.
- Monitor Foreman's responsibility to follow up on Project Manager materials requisitions for site receiving.
- Ensure new hires have been provided and introduced to a mentor who is experienced and knowledgeable of the job and exhibits positive coaching behavior.
- Review each projects quality and safety plan with the Project Manager prior to start of work.
- Supervise your operations so there is no rework. Do it right the first time.
- Understand the budget and complete your work at or below budget.
- Assist HR with carry out disciplinary/corrective actions as per respective policy.
- Participate in manpower, supervision, and daily work instruction meetings. Monitor the assigned manpower, supervision, and daily work instruction.
- Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew, and safety performance to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate equipment resource availability/needs with Ops Manager and PM. Take care of your equipment by insisting on visual checks, and scheduling maintenance with operations. Track outside equipment rentals and need for them.
- Listen to Owner/Client concerns/requests, convey concerns to the PM, and promote solving problems. Be part of the solution.
- Shared responsibility with Project Manager to create work plans, and signoff work plan readiness. Plan accidentfree work
- Ensure Foreman submittals of:
B. Worker Daily Timesheets, and
C. Equipment Log/Operator Time Slips.
D. Monitor Foreman conducting Daily Toolbox Talks.
