ROLE:
Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit/Emergency Unit | Agency Contract |

Full time contract

$90-$95/hour

5% completion bonus at end of contract

$50 Meal Allowance

$50 Coffee Allowance

$100 Self Care Allowance

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:

3 YEARS MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AS AN ICU/ER FLOAT RN:

  • Registered Nursing License in good standing with the Provincial College of Nurses
  • Current BCLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 3 years experience in ICU
  • Critical Care Course
  • Vulnerable Sector Screen renewed within the year
  • Professional Liability Insurance

SKILLS & ABILITY:


  • Patient care
  • Critical care
  • Ventilator and sedation monitoring
  • Head to toe assessment of a critically ill patient
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Patient/family education and instruction
  • Telemetry
  • Discharge planning

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Evaluate and monitor the patient's progress.
  • Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient's medical condition.
  • Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members.
  • Begin treatment and monitor doses.
  • If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors.
  • Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient.
  • Maintain patient records.
  • Create and implement effective care plans.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


  • Responsible for maintaining care standards in the ICU department
  • Able to assess patients quickly, prioritize, and assist in minor procedures
  • Perform diagnostic tests
  • Conduct followup visits and patient treatment
  • Communicate with doctors and patients to keep everyone updated on test results and treatment recommendations
  • Monitoring patient recovery and care
  • Assist in the care of traumas, cardiac arrests, strokes, and other triage situations.
  • Demonstration of sound decisionmaking in emergency scenarios based on patient conditions such as vital signs, patient presentation, and assessments.
  • Provide RN care for all patients, as well as handling of intubations, defibrillations, auto transfusions, Medlock insertions, splinting, and more.
