The Regional Cancer Program (RCP) at the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre, oversees the delivery and quality of cancer services for residents of the Central West and Mississauga Halton (MHCW) region.

Regional Cancer Programs/Regional Cancer Centres are part of Ontario's cancer system leading local strategy implementation to provide person-centred, safe, equitable, efficient, effective, and timely cancer care on a foundation of quality improvement principles.


Reporting to the Regional Director, Regional Cancer Program, the role of Regional Manager is to provide innovative leadership and direction to drive performance and ensure the delivery of high-quality cancer services across the region.

As one of the Regional Managers in the Regional Cancer Program, you will work closely with RCP Leadership, leading a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to provide innovative leadership to support positive and measurable impact for patients in the MHCW region.

The role is responsible for working to achieve the goals of the Regional Cancer Program Strategic Plan, and the Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) Cancer Plan, working with four regional hospitals across ten sites, (Halton Healthcare, Headwaters Health Care Centre, Trillium Health Partners, and William Osler Health System), and other external stakeholders including Independent Health Facilities (IHFs), Ontario Breast Screening Sites (OBSP), Ontario Health Teams (OHTs), Ontario Health -Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO), and Primary Care Providers.

As a Regional Manager with the MHCW Regional Cancer Program, you will lead a team focused on improving the delivery of cancer services across the cancer care continuum and identify quality improvement opportunities to optimize positive outcomes.

The position will have a focus on leading a team engaged in continuous quality improvement initiatives, develop strategies to improve on poor performance indicators, and identify additional indicators to optimize outcomes.

This role requires an appreciation of the patient care journey, supporting integrated approaches to reflect the entire care spectrum.


Job Accountabilities:


  • Working closely with the Regional Director, provide cancer services oversight across the region with a focus on quality improvement and performance across the cancer care spectrum, building and maintaining relationships with a range of care networks, community providers and crosssector agencies to advance a partnership strategy that is integrated and outcomefocused.
  • Support the effective collection, analysis and improvement of performance metrics identified by Ontario Health
  • Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO).
  • Provide leadership throughout the region with respect to implementation of Quality Based Procedures (QBP).
  • Work with the cross functional team to ensure all Quality Improvement initiative deliverables within OH-CCO funding agreements are met.
  • Work with the Regional Leads and Regional Partners to monitor and improve wait times and quality indicators for patients.
  • Monitor volumes and support recovery efforts.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to implement patient experience initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the cross functional team to ensure the Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives, as identified within funding letters and internally defined deliverables, are met.
  • In collaboration with RCP team members, manage and maintain relationships with leadership and all regional stakeholders.
  • Actively engage in weekly RCP performance and quality improvement meetings to regularly and proactively evaluate progress against objectives.
  • Ensure an active role in quality improvement through monitoring successful implementation of strategic quality improvement initiatives, including clinical standardization, and develop an effective framework for knowledge transfer across all regional partner sites.
  • Participate in relevant regional and OH-CCO committees/teams and assigned task groups as appropriate.
