Job Information
- New graduates welcome, experience an asset
- BA Degree or College Diploma in employment counselling, career development or in related field such as psychology, education, communications, human resources or social services
- Employment Consultant will be conducting employment counselling, program intake, job search facilitation and job development
- Superior oral and written communication skills, report writing, administrative, organization and time management skills
- Strong documentation and case management skills
- Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
- Display a sense of urgency and motivation
- Computer literacy in MS Office, Teams, LinkedIn
- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian labour market conditions, practices, trends, job search strategies and techniques
- Strong interpersonal, employment coaching, interviewing and presentation skills
- Experience/Interest in working with unemployed, underemployed, vulnerable individuals who face barriers to entering the labour market
- Broad knowledge of communitybased services and supports
- Valid Ontario 'G' class driver's license with access to vehicle
- Approved/ eligible Vulnerable Sector Check required
Main Responsibilities
Employment Counselling
- Meet with clients to aid them with their job search, provide guidance, support, recommendations, mentoring and feedback
- Conduct intake assessments and create appropriate employment plans
- Follow up with program sponsors and provide updates
- Provide preemployment assistance through vocational counselling, job search coaching, skill development, community resource access, and work preparation to support the clients return to the labour market
- Ability to document information, maintain accurate records and complete reports
- Proven ability/sensitivity in working with a diverse population of clients with barriers to employment
- Skilled at assisting clients to resolve issues that impact their ability to secure or maintain employment
- Experience in Employment Services and working knowledge of Employment Ontario information case management systems an asset
- Contribute to monthly individual and team performance targets through prioritization and effective time management
Outreach, Job Matching, Placement and Incentives
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to generate and manage client referrals and inform clients of services available
- Create strategic plans for finding and securing employment / placement opportunities
- Network and develop relationships with employers and find specific suitable job/placement opportunities
- Assist with coordinating training and further supports for clients to obtain or maintain their employment
- Educate employers on organizations' services/programs and negotiate contracts, placements and accommodations
- Complete and process financial incentive forms accurately
- Conduct employer site visits
- Follow up with employers and track progress of clients in placements
