PROJECT superintendent - CONSTRUCTION
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Project Superintendent to join our team.

Reporting to the Director of Construction and Site Superintendent, the Project Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Construction Team by managing site aspects of construction projects and resources from their initial mobilization through to completion.

This position is for a seasoned construction professional able to manage an entire project through their experience, skill and leadership, while guiding and mentoring the Alabaster Construction team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide oversight for projects by managing the successful planning, execution and safe completion of projects on time, and on budget through strong collaboration and communication
  • Manage and supervise compliance with occupancy health and safety requirements and best practices onsite to meet or exceed all Worksafe BC regulations and requirements
  • Your work will include:
  • Contribute as a member of the Alabaster Team utilizing our values of safety, teamwork, trust, accountability, high performance execution with continuous improvement through Lessons Learned
  • Organize and lead the transition between the development and preconstruction teams into full construction execution by planning site logistics and executing enabling works
  • Managing trade relationships to best utilize and maximize their performance on site
  • Play a key role in securing new construction work by working with the internal preconstruction, development, finance and marketing teams
  • Recommend departmental and project process improvements to increase effectiveness, efficiency and productivity
  • Accountable for safety and human performance metrics, and collaborating with the project HSE Manager and Construction Safety Officer
  • Confirm actual site conditions of projects by conducting site surveys and making recommendations to the client and design members on best approach and advising on constructability issues during preconstruction
  • Participate in business development activities by initiating and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, designers, architectural, structural, civil, and engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors and other project team members
  • Responsible for all site execution matters, including the timely performance of the work
  • Manage and mentor team members to excel both personally and professionally
  • Provide regular and ongoing performance feedback and guidance to team members under the Site Superintendent's management
  • Assist the Project Manager and Preconstruction Manager in the enabling works scopes and assist the project teams before start of construction including but not limited to: abatement, demolition, fencing works, civil, permits.
  • Participate in advanced construction tools and virtual construction work with the Project Manager and Preconstruction Manager to assist in maintaining Construction and Design certainty including but not limited to:
  • Microsoft Project and scheduling software
  • CADmakers
  • Procore
  • Autodesk BIM 360
  • Use of computer software and programs to visualize and document the start up of projects including but not limited to:
  • CMbuilder
  • Site Logistics Planning (PDF bluebeam)
  • Project Planner (PDF bluebeam, Project, etc)

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 10+ years of site management experience in wood frame and concrete residential construction
  • Post secondary education and training in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or a combination of education and industry experience;
  • A proven track record of successful construction execution and delivered projects from start to finish;
  • Experience and knowledge in major construction project issues in order to lead construction through key milestones including:
  • Framing and structural inspections
  • Air tightness testing
  • Firestop inspection
  • Occupancy, code, fire alarm and life safety inspections to achieve Occupancy Permit
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills;
  • A passion and drive for building relationships;
  • Strong computer skills with estimation software and an enthusiasm for innovation;
  • Strong focus on attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to make decisions based on sound judgement and reasoning.
  • Ability to work both independently and under the direct supervision in a busy environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • An absolute passion for construction
