This posting is for 1 permanent full-time position


The Accounting Assistant II position is responsible for setting up and maintaining current and accurate data on customer utility accounts to ensure water, wastewater and solid waste payments are received within expected timelines.

This position is also responsible for the collection of delinquent utility accounts and taking necessary actions in the event accounts are not paid.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct assertive collection procedures while maintaining excellent public relations with internal and external customers
  • Correspond with customers regarding customer inquiries, delinquent accounts, and collection demands
  • Accurately input work orders for connection or disconnection of services
  • Maintain accurate credit files; record returned payments and review monthly aging reports for delinquent balances
  • Crosstrain on other functions within Customer Billing to provide assistance/coverage when required

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Analytical and research skills
  • Organizational, time management and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with five (5) years of customer service experience
  • Knowledge and experience with computerized integrated accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and utility billing system is an asset
  • Collection experience is an asset
